We are a fast growing building and maintenance company based in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Our Barry office covers our contracts in Cardiff and the Vale and our Caerphilly office covers the Valley areas.

     

We are one of the most experienced contractors in South Wales for reactive and planned maintenance with over 100 staff providing high quality services to a number of leading housing associations. Our committment to quality and our flexible approach to delivering services has secured a number of social housing contracts and we are continuing to expand as our reputation for delivering solutions grows.

Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) Programmes

Welsh Housing Quality Standard Programmes

We have many years experience in carrying out WHQS programmes including whole house refurbishments for our social housing partners and have developed highly effective processes to ensure the programmed works are carried out quickly and to a high standard.

We use directly employed labour teams to ensure quality and service and have an excellent track record on delivering programmes on time and within budget.We also work with our partners to offer apprenticeships and training opportunities to the communities that we work in. 

New bathrooms, kitchens, windows, roofs, heating systems and electrical upgrades all carried out by our directly employed teams supervised by a vastly experienced and knowledgable management team dedicated to meeting client and resident expectations.

Aico Fire Products - Approved Installer Status

SMK Building recently became an approved installer of Aico Fire Products. Aico are the leading supplier of fire safety products in the UK and we are currently upgrading fire detection equipment throughout Wales using Aico' s latest products.


 

Employee Of The Month - March 2012

After the successful launch of our Employee of the Month we are delighted to announce Alan Wilson as this month's winner. Alan won a cheque for £50 and a bottle of champagne.

The scheme recognises those staff who have performed to an exceptionally well during the month and is open to all employees with the shortlist made up of representatives from the Bedwas and Barry offices.

 


External Wall Insulation - Cardiff                                                                                                                                 

We are delighted to been selected to carry out External Wall Insulation works in Cardiff for United Welsh Housing Association.

Our specialist team will be installing Rockwool's Rockshield system. The system has already been installed in a number of properties in Senghenydd with residents being delighted with the difference it makes to the thermal comfort of the property. One resident was delighted to tell us how he now could turn off his heating early in the evening and his home remained warm throughout the rest of the night.

Works will commence in Cadiff in March with anticipated completion later in the month.

Management Structure

Management Structure

SMK Building and Maintenance has three Directors each taking responsibility for a particular area of operation of the business.

The Directors remain dedicated to the core values that are the foundation of the success of SMK and these values are communicated through the management structure so every member of the SMK team knows exactly what is expected of them.

The operational management is carried out from both the Barry and Caerphilly offices with each client having a designated manager responsible for their programme of works or contract. The day to day supervision is carried out by a highly experienced and professional team and the teams delivering the works are all directly employed.

All staff enjoy good working conditions and competitive salaries together with opportunities to advance to supervisory and management positions within the company. 

The finance and administration team are based in the Barry office with additional administrative support based in the Caerphilly office.

40 hours per week Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
Time served electrician required for social housing maintenance contract. Must be able to provide training certificates, work unsupervised using own initiative and knowledge and the ability to test and inspect would be an advantage. Driving licence is essential.
